Eligible schools should offer elementary and/or secondary education, as defined by state law, should not have an endowment exceeding $50 million, and must operate as a not-for-profit entity.
Groups of schools and libraries can join together to form consortia. While consortia are not eligible for discounted services themselves, they can run competitive bid processes and/or apply for discounted services for their members.
These are school or library buildings that lack classrooms or public areas, respectively.
Funding can be requested under two service categories
Tech for Edu, as a Category 2 service provider, delivers an array of technologies and services that strengthen the network infrastructure of your school. This includes but is not limited to routers, switches, firewall equipment, wireless controllers and access points, cabling, network maintenance, and management.
Discounts for eligible services under Category Two range from 20 to 85 percent of the cost of a new wireless network. The discount rate mainly depends on the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunches via the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the facility’s location (urban or rural).
Covers Data Transmission Services and/or Internet Access.
Covers Internal Connections (IC), Managed Internal Broadband Services (MIBS), and Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections (BMIC).
